BetMGM promoted a state-specific welcome offer around the Pittsburgh Steelers-Cleveland Browns Thursday Night Football game, giving new Michigan customers $150 in bonus bets if their qualifying wager won, while bettors in other eligible states could receive up to $1,500 in bonus bets if their first bet lost.
In Michigan, as well as New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, customers using code TOP150 could place a $10 qualifying bet and receive $150 in bonus bets if that wager won. The alternative offer, code TOP1500, offered new customers in other eligible states up to $1,500 in bonus bets if their first bet lost.
WTOP’s Oct. 1 promotion roundup said a customer could claim only one of the offers. The applicable code had to be entered during initial registration, alongside a deposit of at least $10 and the first qualifying wager; it could not be added to an existing account later.
The terms restricted the promotion to first-time BetMGM customers aged 21 or older who were physically located in a state where the sportsbook operates at the time of wagering. A bettor’s location, rather than permanent home address, determined eligibility.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board lists BetMGM among the state’s authorized online gaming and sports-betting platform providers. For the Steelers-Browns promotion, qualifying bets could be placed on available game markets including the spread, moneyline, total and player props.
The bonus bets were non-withdrawable and were generally subject to a seven-day expiration window. The offer was promoted for the Oct. 1 game in Cleveland, which had an 8:15 p.m. Eastern kickoff and matched two teams that entered with 2-1 records.
CBS Sports separately described the location-dependent BetMGM promotion as paying $150 in bonus bets after a winning first wager or up to $1,500 after a losing qualifying wager.
