Half-Price Sunday, one of PokerStars’ most popular promotions, returns this Sunday across all three states it operates in: Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Buy-ins will be cut in half for all five major events scheduled for Sunday, October 10 — the Sunday Warm-Up, Sunday Storm, Sunday Special, Sunday High Roller and Sunday Supersonic.
The tournaments will run at their usually scheduled times and offer the same guaranteed prize pools.
PokerStars is guaranteeing more than $180,000 in prizes across all three states, including more than $60,000 in Michigan. Pennsylvania will have a larger guaranteed prize pool at more than $80,000, while New Jersey players will be able to compete for more than $40,000 in prizes.
Running for second time in Michigan
For PokerStars, Half-Price Sunday has been one of their most successful promotions, both in the US and overseas.
It will be the second time that Half-Price Sunday has been offered by PokerStars MI. The promotion ran for the first time on July 18 and was very successful.
During that first run, Half-Price Sunday drew 1,583 entries: 295 for the Sunday Warm-Up, 1,035 for the Sunday Special and 253 for the Sunday Supersonic. Buy-ins were $15, $50 and $25 for the three events, respectively, for a total of $90.
The prize pools for all three events exceeded the guarantee. While $3,000 was guaranteed at the Sunday Warm-Up, the event was so popular that the prize pool grew to $4,027, or 34.23% over the guarantee.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Special had a guaranteed prize pool of $40,000 and the Sunday Supersonic had $5,000 guaranteed. The eventual prize pools grew to $47,093 and $5,946, respectively, equating to increases of 17.73% and 18.91% over the guarantee.
Combined, the overall result from the three events was a prize pool of $57,065, or 18.88% above the guarantee of $48,000. In terms of percentage over guarantee, Michigan fared better than Pennsylvania (7.84%) but was lower than New Jersey (37.3%).
The results of Half-Price Sunday in July also equated to a rate of $634.05 in terms of prizes/buy-in. New Jersey didn’t fare as well by that metric ($223.90) due to higher buy-in totals, but $90 buy-ins and a larger number of entries gave Pennsylvania players a huge return on their investment ($1,048.44).
Women’s Sunday has $2,000 guaranteed
