BetMGM is bringing GameSense responsible-gambling messages to Ford Field and Comerica Park in Michigan during Responsible Gaming Education Month, and it is also adding reminders and links to player-control tools across its digital platforms. The Detroit venues are among 17 professional sports sites in the campaign, and the messages will run on LED ribbon boards and scoreboards during pregame activities.
The sportsbook will also prompt customers to take a time-out, with QR codes leading to responsible-gambling information and support resources. Michigan customers using BetMGM Casino and BetMGM Sportsbook will see reminders about deposit, loss and session limits, as well as the temporary self-blocking time-out option.
The push sits inside a wider September effort tied to the American Gaming Association’s Responsible Gaming Education Month. BetMGM will also send targeted responsible-play emails during the month.
GameSense was first developed and licensed to MGM Resorts in 2017 by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. MGM Resorts and BetMGM say more than 3,000 employees in more than 45 departments have now been certified as GameSense Advisors, and the programme continues to appear in select NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks.
The promotion is also accompanied by a combined $320,000 contribution from MGM Resorts International and BetMGM to gambling research and support programmes. The money will support the International Center for Responsible Gaming, expand sponsorships for state problem-gambling councils and go partly to the Evive Foundation. The announcement did not name the councils or explain how the money will be divided. BetMGM also plans to send targeted responsible-play emails through September.
