On July 21, FireKeepers Casino Hotel and Scientific Games announced a deal to provide sports betting in Michigan and expand the online casino library. FireKeepers players got immediate access to this content through its app and casino sportsbook.
New titles available through Scientific Games’ OpenGaming and OpenSports products include 88 Fortunes, Let It Ride and many more.
When FireKeepers launched its online casino and sportsbook on July 12, its game roster was limited. Its portfolio included a few casino titles from NYX Digital, which Scientific Games owns. Before that, the company only offered a retail location.
FireKeepers Casino features a massive gaming floor, 70 table games, several restaurants and lounges, and live poker and bingo rooms. The casino opened in August 2009.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) approved the internet launch by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi, which owns and operates FireKeepers.
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams welcomed this addition, saying that the tribe, “provided key support for development of the laws signed in 2019 that allow federally recognized tribes in Michigan to seek licenses for internet casino gaming and online sports betting.”
Williams also pointed out that the casino will “generate revenue to support K-12 education, economic development and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band’s tribal community.” FireKeepers was the 13th online gaming combined with a sports betting platform in the state.
Scientific Games makes some of the most popular gambling games
Scientific Games’ software has been incredibly successful among US players. The company is based out of Las Vegas but has about 9,500 employers worldwide. It has been creating games for more than 85 years.
The company says it prides itself on its mission to “empower our customers by creating the world’s best gaming and lottery experiences.”
Scientific Games has impressive accomplishments, including:
- Introducing the first US internet lottery game;
- Launching the first linked multi-state title;
- Debuting the first retail lottery mobile app for iPhone; and
- Creating technology that enabled credit and debit purchases of lottery games.
According to the company, its “casino, interactive and instant lottery games are designed to reach players wherever they are, whenever they want to play and in any channel they choose: casino, retail or digital.”
FireKeepers said it chose to partner with Scientific Games in order to grow its brand in the Michigan market. The casino has reported strong revenue since its launch.
Roll-out Took Years of Planning
The casino added that it is dedicated to putting out quality products, as demonstrated by the fact that they spent more than 10 years planning the opening of their retail location.
The deal with Scientific Games allows FireKeepers to increase the number of games it offers to its players. These titles use software proven to be successful, which increases the trust Michiganders have in them.
