DraftKings has introduced customisable cool-off periods of three to 364 days, allowing customers to choose a specific length of time during which they cannot gamble through their account. The feature replaces preset break lengths and forms part of a wider responsible-engagement rollout announced Sept. 14.
The options are available to customers in most jurisdictions, although the selection available in Michigan can differ by DraftKings product. The company described the change as an addition to its budget-and-controls tools, intended to give customers more information about their activity and more control over their gambling.
The rollout also includes Gamalyze American Football, an interactive self-assessment developed with Mindway AI and tailored to American-football fans. Rather than asking participants to complete a conventional questionnaire, the tool assesses decisions made in a gridiron-themed experience, including responses to potential rewards and losses.
Participants receive personalised feedback and an action plan based on those decisions. Completing the assessment does not automatically alter an account’s settings: customers must separately use DraftKings controls to set spending limits or begin a temporary break.
DraftKings and Mindway AI launched the football edition on Sept. 10, following the integration of Gamalyze Casino into My Budget and Controls in January. A soccer-themed Gamalyze Football edition had also debuted during the FIFA World Cup before the American-football version.
Gamalyze American Football was rolled out through digital platforms and physical activations nationwide ahead of the NFL season. DraftKings also staged September demonstrations at its Sports Bar at Wrigley Field, Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots’ home opener, and Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs’ home opener. A nationwide activation at gas stations began Sept. 2 under the DraftKings Gameday banner.
A PGA TOUR sweepstakes is being used to promote two existing controls, My Stat Sheet and My Budget Builder. My Stat Sheet lets customers review the time and money spent on DraftKings, while My Budget Builder allows them to create an entertainment budget and examine controls covering deposits, wagers and time spent playing.
The company says eligible customers who use those tools can enter a sweepstakes running from Sept. 16 through Sept. 29 for an all-expenses-paid trip to THE PLAYERS Championship. Global Gaming Insider separately reported that the prize was a trip to the WM Phoenix Open in Arizona, a discrepancy with DraftKings’ account.
Michigan residents who want to stop using all state-regulated online casinos and sportsbooks can apply to the Michigan Gaming Control Board’s Responsible Gaming Database. The state also maintains a separate Disassociated Persons List for people seeking exclusion from Detroit’s three commercial casinos, alongside casino and online-gaming self-exclusion programmes and a problem-gambling helpline that provides support 24/7.
DraftKings also began a digital responsible-engagement advertising campaign featuring Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas on Sept. 10.
