BetMGM is offering new Michigan customers $150 in bonus bets if a $10 opening wager wins, using the code TOP150, as the MLB playoffs continue. The promotion can be used on the Tampa Bay Rays-New York Yankees game or other playoff markets available that day.
WTOP reported that the same TOP150 offer also applied in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. New customers in other legal BetMGM states, excluding New York, could instead use TOP1500: a losing first wager is returned in bonus bets up to $1,500.
As reported Oct. 1, BetMGM used the same state-specific offer structure around the Steelers-Browns Thursday Night Football game.
To qualify, customers must open an account, enter the code assigned to their state, deposit at least $10 and make a qualifying first bet. The offers are limited to customers aged 21 or older who are physically located in a state where BetMGM operates; its accounts are subject to identity and geolocation checks. Bonus bets are credited after the qualifying wager settles.
The Rays-Yankees matchup was due to begin at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. BetMGM listed New York as a -161 moneyline favorite and Tampa Bay at +135, with the Yankees -1.5 runs at +140 and the Rays +1.5 at -169. The total was 7.5 runs, with the Over priced at +105 and the Under at -128.
The qualifying wager could be placed on the moneyline, run line, total or another available market. In betting splits, 70% of 18,001 moneyline tickets backed the Yankees, while Tampa Bay accounted for 53% of moneyline handle. The Over drew 57.5% of totals bets.
