The final month of 2021 was a good one for Michigan Lottery players, who managed to take down several big prizes, including a $1.52 million Lotto 47 Jackpot.

This big win may have been the biggest in recent weeks, but two more players managed to grab a hold of more than $500,000 in various Lottery drawings, with a Powerball prize of $500,000 drawn by Bruce Wall and a man from Oakland County winning close to $700,000 at Fantasy 5.

Wayne County Woman Wins Lotto 47 Jackpot

A 34-year-old woman from Wayne County was the lucky winner of the biggest MI Lottery jackpot in December, worth more than $1.5 million.

The jackpot was hit on December 18, with numbers 08, 14, 24, 31, 37, and 45 being lucky for the player, who chose to remain anonymous.

She purchased her winning ticket through the Lottery’s online website, as she usually does, and got the surprise of a lifetime when she saw she had won the life-changing jackpot.

“I play Lotto 47 often and I always buy my tickets online,” she said. “I checked my email the day after the drawing and had a message notifying me that I won a prize. When I clicked on it and saw that I had won the jackpot, I was in complete shock!”

The winner decided to accept a lump sum payment of close to $1 million at Lottery headquarters, as opposed to 30 annuity payments which would have paid her out the entire amount of $1.52 million.

Powerball Prize Won in Kalamazoo County

Another major Michigan Lottery win was recorded on December 29, when a Kalamazoo County man by the name of Bruce Wall realized he had won $500,000 through the Powerball Double Play drawing.

The interesting thing about this one is that Wall initially did not realize he had a big win and thought he had won just $8 in the regular Powerball drawing. Only once he checked the Double Play numbers and saw that he had hit all five numbers, 43, 51, 53, 63, and 68, did he know that his life was about to change.

“I saw that I had matched the Powerball of 11 in the regular drawing, so I figured I had an $8 winner since I added the Powerplay option to my ticket,” said Wall. “When I scanned the ticket, I got a message that said I needed to file a claim.

“At first, I was confused, but then it hit me that I had added Double Play to my ticket. When I checked those numbers and saw I had matched five, I started shaking and couldn’t stop!”

Unlike the lady who won the Lotto 47 jackpot, Wall purchased his ticket at a gas station some 10 miles west of Battle Creek.

Fantasy 5 Jackpot Good for $700,000

Another major win for Michigan Lottery players came on December 23, when the Fantasy 5 drawing saw numbers 07, 23, 33, 36, and 39 pop up.

For one player from Oakland County, who decided to remain anonymous, these numbers meant that he had won the jackpot, worth just over $699,000.

The 69-year-old man has been playing Fantasy 5 for 10 years and was now able to claim the biggest prize of his life at the Michigan Lottery headquarters.

“I have been playing the same Fantasy 5 numbers for about 10 years,” said the player. “Every night after the drawing, I check the numbers on the Lottery app. On the night I’d won, I checked the numbers as usual and I recognized them, but I decided to wait to scan my ticket until the next day because I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I had actually won.

“I ended up waking up at 2:30 a.m. and couldn’t wait any longer, so I scanned my ticket on the app. When the scanner confirmed my $699,170 prize, I couldn’t believe it! I immediately started yelling for my wife to tell her the good news.”
