PokerStars will bring its popular tournament series, the Championship of Online Poker (COOP), back to the US this month and will run it across all three states in which it currently operates: Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
From September 10 through September 27, PokerStars MI will run the MICOOP, aka the Michigan Championship of Online Poker series, with $1.5 million guaranteed across 68 events in total.
PokerStars NJ and PokerStars PA will run their NJCOOP and PACOOP series across their respective states, and will do so concurrently with their counterparts in Michigan. A combined $4.5 million in prize guarantees is on offer by PokerStars across all three states.
With the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) currently running in the global market, PokerStars is having its premier series brand return to US markets as three series, one for each market it operates in.
The three series will collectively feature 190 events. Each will feature a $300 buy-in Main Event as the ultimate contest.
Players will only be playing against other players from their respective states. The PACOOP series is expected to draw the largest number of players, in part due to the Keystone State being more populous.
For the MICOOP series, there will be 68 events, many of which will have poker formats such as NLH, PLO, 5 Card Draw and FLH. There will also be mixed games on the schedule.
Buy-ins for the MICOOP series range from $10 to $1,000. The series will offer $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools.
A $300 buy-in Main Event is scheduled for September 26 and will have a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000 — less than the $200,000 on offer at PACOOP’s Main Event, but more than the $100,000 being offered at the Main Event in the NJCOOP series.
Seven trophies will be awarded in addition to the prize money. Trophies will be awarded to the Main Event winner, but also to winners of the $100 Big Kickoff, the $250 6-Max Championship, the $250 PLO Highroller, the $250 PKO Thursday Thrill, the $1,000 NLH Highroller and the 8-game championship.
