Tournament poker players in Michigan have an exciting weekend ahead of them, with PokerStars MI and BetMGM MI both running exciting tournament series, culminating over the weekend.
While WSOP MI should be coming to the Wolverine State shortly, the two operators are currently the players’ only online poker options. Fortunately, the upcoming weekend will be full of poker action of all sorts.

PokerStars’ Champions Preseason Series $80k Main Event on Sunday
The PokerStars Preseason Series has been a massive success so far in all three states it was offered in. The series started on August 12 and will have its grand finale on Sunday, August 22.
Players in Michigan have a lot to look forward to, as the Series’ Main Event will be held on Sunday, featuring an $80,000 guaranteed prize pool, a big part of the overall $300,000 guarantee.
The Series’ Main Event will feature a $200 buy-in and may even offer some overlay depending on player turnout. Players who may not be able or want to pony up the full buy-in will have the option of qualifying for the tournament for free, with a freeroll tournament offering 30 Main Event tickets to recent depositors.

BetMGM’s Michigan Online Series $100k Highroller Event Also Sunday
BetMGM MI decided to mimic PokerStars and throw a similar tournament series this week, with the Michigan Online Series offering a total of $330,000 in guaranteed prize pools and a main event with a $50,000 guaranteed.
The Main Event itself was the initial event of the series, and it was a great success, but players can expect a lot more exciting action this weekend.
Things kick off on Saturday with a $215, $25k guaranteed prize pool 6-max Hold’em event. Sunday is reserved for the 10th and 11th events of the series, with the former being a $20, $15k guaranteed Mini NLH event, and the latter being the Series’ highroller, offering a $100k prize pool for players willing to part ways with $1,060 in buy-in fees.
The highroller will be the biggest poker tournament in Michigan this weekend, which is bound to attract the attention of all major poker players. The tournament may also attract a few rich recreational players looking for some high stakes action.
With BetMGM tournament series consistently falling short of the guaranteed prize pools, there is no reason to believe this weekend will be any different, so we suggest you keep an eye on the lobby and look for overlays in the upcoming tournaments as well.
